Ballet is the basis of all forms of dance and is taken by most of our students at least once a week.

Our younger ballet students develop basic motor skills during classes including standing correctly, balancing on one foot, good co-ordination, moving to music and dancing with others.

As they progress through the ballet grades students develop their fitness, strength and body alignment. Advanced levels work on jumps, dancing on Pointe and reaching their maximum flexibility.

Most importantly, they develop an awareness of their own style and learn to express their emotions through the art of dance.

Ballet classes with the Jill Clewes Academy for Performing Arts are available for complete beginners to advanced standard and follow the syllabus of the British Ballet Organisation (BBO) which is fully accredited by the Dance Council of Great Britain and QCA.
A BBO scholarship scheme is also available by audition for especially gifted pupils and includes monthly classes by distinguished BBO  teachers at regional centres and residential coaching courses.
