Established over 50 years ago, the Jill Clewes Academy for Theatre Arts is well known for offering exceptional training in all aspects of dance, drama, singing and musical theatre for children and adults across Newcastle, Stoke on Trent and North Staffordshire.

Held in our Bradwell based studios we offer classes in classical ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre, commercial, freestyle, singing, drama and conditioning. Whether looking for classes for those who enjoy performing as a hobby or those who wish to pursue a career in the industry you are sure to find classes to suit all ages and abilities.

After many years of training young performers, many of whom would go on to professional training in London and beyond, Jill decided to develop her own full time academy to offer students wishing to pursue a career in performing arts access to the type of professional training previously only associated with the larger London based conservatoires. This course is now our BTEC extended diploma in Performing Arts course forming our Full Time Academy.

Pupils studying ballet, jazz and tap in the Performing Arts Studio are taught syllabus work and, should they so wish, entered for examinations with the British Ballet Organisation (BBO) which is fully accredited with the National Council for Dance Education and Training. All of our pupils achieve 100% pass rate in their exams. Pupils are also encouraged to audition for places with other professional schools and companies. We have many scholarship students at the BBO, The Royal Ballet Association, The Elmhurst Association and the Northern Ballet Assocation.

Pupils joining us for the full-time academy will be enrolled on a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts, accredited by Pearson/Edexcel.
